Description

The Peruvian company Enersur S.A, a subsidiary of GDF Suez Company, announced the development of Central Termoelectrica De Ilo-Nodo Energetico del Sur thermal power plant (Central Termoelectrica ILO 4), located in the province of Ilo (Moquegua) (735 MW in capacity). Central Termoelectrica De Ilo was a part of the Nodo Energetico del Sur project, which included the construction of the Gasoducto Sur Peruano natural gas pipeline. This initiative consisted of the construction of two thermal power plants based on gas in Mollendo and Ilo, Peru. In March 2015, Enersur S.A was awarded the investment contract by the Ministerio de Energia y Minas (MINE). In May 2015, Enersur S.A signed the long-term contract for the construction and operation of this thermal power plant, which was set to use both diesel and natural gas as fuel. Enersur had also been responsible for the construction and operation of Ilo 1 and Ilo 2 thermal power plants (ID# 462). The investment was estimated at US$ 432.4 million. As of November 2015, 68% of the construction works had been concluded. Commercial operations were scheduled to commence in March 2017.
