In May 2015, Enersur S.A signed the long-term contract for the construction and operation of this thermal power plant, which was set to use both diesel and natural gas as fuel. Enersur had also been responsible for the construction and operation of Ilo 1 and Ilo 2 thermal power plants (ID# 462). The investment was estimated at US$ 432.4 million. As of November 2015, 68% of the construction works had been concluded. Commercial operations were scheduled to commence in March 2017.
