Description	Sudamericana de Energia de Piura, subsidiary of the American company Olympic Oil and Gas, announced the development of a 30-MW natural gas thermal power plant at Tablazo, Piura Department. The electricity produced by the power plant was set to supply the municipalities of Piura, Sullana, El Arenal and Paita. In December 2011, the sponsor was granted the authorization to build and operate the power plant. The investment was estimated at US$ 22.5 million. Construction works were concluded in December 2011, but commercial operations commenced only in September 2012.
