Central Valley Project Water Allocation Increase

Federal water managers increased water deliveries to parts of California's Central Valley after late February storms. Irrigation water for farms south of the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta will rise from 15% to 20% of requested supplies, and water for cities and towns in the same region will increase from 65% to 70%. Water users in the Cross Valley area will also see irrigation supplies increase from 15% to 20%. The changes reflect improvements from recent storms but concerns remain due to dry weather and low snowpack in the Sierra Nevada. More stored water from last year, about 222,000 acre-feet, will be available to offset shortages. The Central Valley Project delivers water to farms, cities, and wildlife areas across California, with ongoing updates to allocations as conditions change.
