The overall objective of the current proposed project, correlated with the global objectives of the Central Baltic cross-border Cooperation Programme 2007-2013, is to intensify the cross-border cooperation of all labour market participants in the common border region in a socially and economically sustainable way meant to support the development of a cross-border labour market. Specifically the project aims at two main goals: to increase the cross-border flow of information for mobile job seakers/school leavers as well as enterprises/employers/investors already located or willing to settle in the border region raising attractiveness of the target region as a homogeneous, economic area. Cross-border partnerships between economic actors, relevant institutions/associations as well as strategic investments could be stimulated by offering targeted and comparable information on four labour markets (Latvia, Estonia, Sweden, Finland). Firstly setting up an information platform on labour-market issues, professional trainings, qualifications and job opportunities in the common cross-border area of Sweden, Finland, Estonia and Latvia by designing, developing and integrating a multilingual online-information portal (complementary to and linked with already existing national platforms) to compare job profiles and trainings. Thus the project targets the improvement of job applicant’s mobility by offering equal access to detailed information on vocational trainings, further education and suitable job opportunities outside the living area and even across the border. A better transparency and wider dissemination of these information will increase the permeability of cross-border (cb) labour markets and will also contribute to an improvement of links between the industry and the educational systems. Simultaneously the project has the objective to initiate and intensify cross-border cooperation of all labour market participants e.g. social partners, human resource organisations, public employment services (PES) and educational institutions. Fostering cross-border exchange of knowledge and best practice through cross-border workshops and other events (e.g. cross-border training courses) will contribute to a better understanding of different national regulations (e.g. recognition of qualifications, entrance requirements to labour markets, differences in the system of vocational training a.s.o.) as well as structures and working practices of the authorities abroad. In doing so, the project will strengthen territorial cohesion and also facilitate employment agencies to ensure a faster and more suitable placement of skilled workers as well as jobseekers and apprentices by access to joint, comparable information on cross-border occupations, labour market demands and branch developments.
