Description
Description | Seas and oceans as central to the accomplishment of the European Green Deal and green transition is one of the pillars of the EU’s diplomacy vis-a-vis its neighbors. The project establishes a Center of Excellence on Sustainable Blue Economy in order to foster interactions in the knowledge triangle related to the theme of sustainable and smart blue economy, both in their internal dimension (particularly the Adriatic part of the EU), and in relation between the EU and the Mediterranean countries. The project builds on the collaborative, inter-institutional and region-wide approach that is ingrained in the EMUNI University. The project’s strong expertise capitalists on the results of past activities. The team is markedly interdisciplinary, and complementary in terms of ability to reach out to stakeholders and the project’s target audience. The target groups are: researchers, higher education teachers / educators, policy-makers at both national and regional levels, local stakeholders and lay audience/usual citizens. In the course of 3 years, the project will implement a curated programme consisting of research, teaching and stakeholder engagement activities that put at its focus quality (over quantity) and replicability: • 3 research papers, open access; • research conference for 20-30 scholars; • competence framework for sustainable blue economy to shape education across the region; • 2 intensive training's for 30 mid-career scholars; • summer school of 30 master students; • a set of short freely accessible video materials as essential learning resources; • 3 policy briefs targeting EU and national policy-makers; • 2 events for stakeholders in Slovenia/North Adriatic; • 2 artistic events for 200 local citizens. An impact visual identity will be applied in support of professionally tailored messages to the target groups. The project will contribute to the implementation of EU’s internal & foreign policy, and to the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sust. Development. |
