Description | Intervias, a joint-venture of Construtora Barbosa Mello, Galvao Engenharia, Egesa, Tercam Engenharia, Construtora Aterpa and ARG Ltds, was awarded the contract to expand, rehabilitate and operate the Centro Norte highway. A total of US$ 329 million will be invested in infrastructure during the 20-year concession period. Commercial operation started in February 2000. The highway has 364 km in extension and an average daily traffic flow of 53,000 vehicles. As of December 2004, Intervias was controlled by OHL. In 2006, OHL negotiated with Sao Paulo state to extend its 20-year concession agreement by 95 months.
