In november 2001, Centroaguas began operating a 20-year lease of the water and sewer public service for the city of Tulua (Servicio Publico Domiciliario de Acueducto y Alcantarillado en la ciudad de Tulua). During this period, Centroaguas is to pay a monthly fee to Empresas Municipales de Tulua (EMTULUA) for the use of the infrastructure to provide the services. Centroaguas was owned by Tulua municipal firms - grouped together as Emtulua (20%) and by Grupo Bermad - a group of foreign and local private companies (80%). In 2006, Grupo Bermad (composed by Bermad, Bermad Colombia, H20 Consulting SA and Ms. Marta Sofía López Soto) sold its stake of 80% to Grupo Empresarial Energic. As of 2006, Centroaguas had over 40,000 connections.
