The proposed project involves an equity investment in Banque Centrale Populaire (“BCP” or the “Bank”). BCP is the central entity of Banque Centrale Populaire Group (“BCP Group”), the second largest banking group in Morocco. BCP is listed on the Casablanca Stock Exchange and controls several specialized non banking financial institutions offering leasing, consumer finance, investment banking in addition to commercial banks in Sub-Saharan Africa and Europe. The Group has been traditionally focused on financing SMEs, mostly in the peripheral regions where it is considered Morocco’s “SME Bank.” It is also the market leader in terms of deposit mobilization and expatriates remittances.
