Description | The proposed project involves the design, construction and operation of an expansion of the IFC-financed heavy-fuel-oil-fired Cap des Biches thermal power plant (see Cap des Biches, project #35175). By adding two 16.7 MW engines, total installed capacity is expected to increase from 53 MW to 86 MW. The plant also has the ability to be converted to natural gas. Once it starts operating, the project should be one of the most efficient thermal power plants in Senegal and will help meet the country’s growing electricity demand. |
