Chad - Massaguet-Ngoura Road Development

The 120 km long Massaguet-Ngoura road is a continuation of the Djermaya-Massaguet project developed on ADF-VII financing. These sections of the road form part of the N’Djamena-Abeche-Adre-Sudanese border road which is one of the priority roads to open up the country. The project falls in priority, under the Third Transport Sector Programme (PST3). The developments envisaged are in response to the following necessities : i) domestic and external opening up of Chad as one of the conditions recommended by the second and third transport sector projects, for road infrastructure in general and the N’Djamena-Abeche-Adre-Sudanese border axis in particular ; and ii) improvement in the living conditions of the populations in the project area. The project will provide a road motorable in all seasons, boreholes supplying drinking water at all times as well as permanent and safe schools. Moreover, it will help provide MTPTHU with weigh-bridges and train two employees of its road planning unit (Cpr) and two DSP employees. This will make the Ministry more efficient in its interventions for the protection of road investments (monitoring of the weight of vehicles) and their programming. The estimated total project cost, excluding taxes and customs duty, amounts to UA 41.13 million.
