Chad - Secondary Education Quality Improvement Project - Education IV

The Secondary Education Quality Improvement Project (Education IV) which is a centre-piece of the Government’s policy on education is aimed at assisting the Ministry of National Education (MEN) in its effort to revitalize the education infrastructure at the secondary level in the five prefectures through the rehabilitation of five high schools. This new Education Project IV ADF, falls within the continuity of the previous projects where emphasis was put not only on the development of elementary education in BET but also on the original and continuing training of teaching, inspection and supervision personnel of secondary schools owing to the staff increase in ENS and INSE and the rehabilitation of a CEG and two high schools in N’Djamena. The project is a logical continuation of the first three ADF-funded projects. Furthermore, the project will reduce the concentration of staff in N’Djamena by creating conditions more conducive for studies within the country. It will also provide better initial and permanent education for teachers of the two cycles as well as for managers, inspectors and pedagogical advisers. The project which has been submitted to ADF for financing will actually upgrade general secondary education in Chad qualitatively and quantitatively which is perfectly in line with the Bank’s policy regarding education and training. The project will take four (4) years to implement.
