The project consists of an A loan to Clinique La Providence for the construction of a new building and the acquisition of additional equipment. Located in Ndjamena, Chad, the clinic was created in 1995 and is today the leading Chadian private clinic with a turnover of $0.8 million and a bed capacity of 20. Demand for healthcare services is high in Chad which remains one of the countries with the lowest access to health services. Chadians who can afford travel frequently abroad for any minor health issue given the unavailability of adequate health facilities in the country. As a result a new industry of health charter flights destined for foreign countries has emerged. The clinic’s current facilities (operated in a leased property originally built for housing), are outdated and do not meet today’s healthcare standards as well as the increasing patient demand. As such, the management of the clinic invested in its own dedicated and purpose built premises which will result in an increase of bed capacity from 20 to 50. The new facility, which construction is currently underway, will have new equipment and provide additional healthcare services such as cardiology, chest medicine, reanimation, and orthopedic ward.
