Description | Bulgaria's state-owned utility NEK EAD signed a memorandum of understanding with Toshiba International Europe Ltd. to restart operations at the Chaira pumped-storage hydropower plant. The plant, the largest of its kind in Southeastern Europe, has an installed capacity of 864 MW across four units but has been partially out of operation due to aging infrastructure and a turbine accident in 2022. Toshiba is commissioned to repair Unit 1 and provide technical support for the entire plant to enhance reliability and efficiency. |
