Information Northern Railway [NR] - II has come up with Chandigarh-Baddi New Rail Line- 36 km with a ticket size of 1540.14 INR Crores. Economic/Social Impact of the Project The work of construction of Chandigarh-Baddi new rail line was sanctioned as cost sharing of 50percentage between Railways and Government of Himachal Pradesh. The preliminary survey report with a new line taking off from the existing Chandi Mandir Railway station was approved by Railway Board in March 2014. The total requirement of land was assessed as 80 Ha. Land acquisition proceedings were started in both the states in August 2014. Since no headway was being achieved in land acquisition, this project was declared as Special Railway Project vide Gazette notification No. 190-W/153-A/land dated 20.06.2019. In both, the states CALAs were nominated in August 2019. The revised requirement of land was worked out to 96 Ha. 64 Ha of which falls in Panchkula district [Haryana] and 32 ha falls in Solan district [Himachal Pradesh].
