Description | The Chandpur Flood Protection Drainage and Irrigation Project for East Pakistan will finance the flood protection, pump drainage and irrigation project. This project will afford flood protection and pump drainage to a gross area of 135,320 acres and within this area, pump irrigation to 109,000 acres of cultivated land. Construction and operation would be undertaken by the East Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (EPJAPDA). The purpose of the project is to develop currently low producing single crop lands into a modern irrigation area with double and some triple cropping. The economic benefits will be justified by the greatly increased returns which will be achieved. |
