Description
Description | Changing Together to Inform, Debunk and Empower (ChangingTIDE) is a transnational effort with the goal of strengthening democratic resilience against the challenges of disinformation, information manipulation, and interference in democratic processes. It focuses on: 1) equipping citizens, especially young people, with media literacy competencies and tools to recognise and counter false information; and 2) co-developing tangible outputs for the fight against disinformation, including a toolkit for media literacy education building on local educational programmes developed through the project, and a set of citizen-led public awareness campaigns. By fostering exchanges between young citizens, civil society practitioners and multi-level policy-makers, ChangingTIDE promotes active citizenship and democratic participation. Coordinated by TEPSA and implemented by five other consortium members, ChangingTIDE comprises 13 events to be held in six EU Member States (Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Portugal, Ireland and Estonia). In a cyclical nature, the project will start with five national Media Literacy Incubators for young people. A Campaign Lab in Brussels will follow this to further train a selected number of motivated young people (the ‘Changemakers’) to address locally relevant disinformation challenges and act as multipliers in their communities. It will host a Changemakers Forum in Brussels, bringing together practitioners and young people; five national Town Halls with relevant policy-makers at the local or regional levels and education professionals; to conclude with an Impact Forum and Changemakers Awards in Brussels, where the project outputs will be disseminated to a variety of relevant stakeholders. Twenty Changemakers will join a carefully designed mentorship programme to create awareness-raising campaigns addressing disinformation, benefitting from an iterative and co-created process and input from transnational discussions and peer-to-peer learning. |
