Changthang and Karakoram Sanctuary Boundary Redrawing

under review

The project involves redrawing the boundaries and expanse of the strategically located Changthang and Karakoram wildlife sanctuaries in Ladakh. A new committee is being formed to identify and define the core wildlife areas within these protected areas, addressing national security concerns and developmental needs of local communities. The project impacts defense and developmental activities due to the need for wildlife clearances and compensatory afforestation fund requirements.
