Main objective : The aim of this project is to develop and implement an integrated maritime policy in the Channel area whilst fostering concrete co-operation between stakeholders. It seeks to set up a framework for the maritime governance (integrated maritime strategy, consultation body for stakeholders), to create a resource centre to support co-operation and governance in the Channel area, to foster cross-border clusters and to strengthen the local authorities organization when faced with the risk of maritime pollution incidents. CAMI ensues from the EMDI (Espace Manche Development Initiative) project financed by the INTERREG IIIB North West Europe programme. EMDI strongly contributed to the development of the Channel Arc Manche co-operation between 2004 and 2008: working-out a strategic vision, testing new co-operation avenues, developing greater knowledge of the Channel area and the issues at stake. Main actions : - Maritime Governance: Implementing an integrated maritime strategy in the Channel area, Setting-up a cross-channel Forum - Cross-Channel Resource Center: Inventory and analysis of organizations and stakeholders : innovation / transports / vocational training, Inventory and analysis of projects : innovation / transports / vocational training, Creation of an online resources center. - Cluster development and benchmarking: Identification of opportunities and development of cross-border clusters, Benchmarking : innovation / transports / vocational training - Maritime transport and intermodality: Analysis of the transport system in the Channel area, followed by recommendations. Maritime safety : reinforcement of the expertise in the Channel area and improvement of the coordinated response capability of local authorities.
