The project consists of a new single pad arena, outdoor swimming pool, with other amenities such as walking track and community spaces to replace aging infrastructure (Simmons Sports Centre). The scope of the work includes the following proposed amenities: one NHL size ice pad, fixed seating of 300 plus, 6 standard size dressing rooms, referee’s room, community multi-purpose room, warming room (seating capacity of 100), indoor walking track, elevator, canteen/kitchen area, outdoor 25-meter pool with 6 swim lanes with access to change rooms, user group storage areas, staff office space, parking, and access to washrooms for sport field users. The aim of the project is to replace the current Simmons Sports Centre Arena and Outdoor Pool with a modern, accessible, environmentally friendly, and sustainable facility. The cost of demolition of existing facility is included in this application. Based on Class D Cost Estimate, and the overall square footage is estimated to be 70,406 with the following breakdown: Level 1 (Arena, Walking Track, Dressing Rooms) 30,440 sq ft Level 1 (Mechanical - back addition with low roof) 3,315 sq ft Level 2 (Spectator Seating, warm room, washroom) 8,407 sq ft Front Addition (Multi-purpose room, lobby, pool changing rooms, kitchen/canteen, washrooms) 12,648 sq ft Pool 4176 sq ft Pool Basement 4176 sq ft Pool Deck 7244 sq ft
