CHARTE DE L'EAU DU LAC TCHAD

This project aims at contributing to the implementation of the Strategic Action Plan and the 2025 vision of the Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC) by developing an appropriate legal and regulatory framework or "a Charter of the Water. This Charter is a regional and even international requirement to promote the sustainable development of participatory management planning for transboundary water resources. Its implementation will allow equitable use of water resources by different countries and users and conflict prevention related to the use of shared water. The development of the Water Charter will take place according to the following three stages: (i) conceptualization and comprehensive diagnostic study of the legislative and institutional framework; (ii) creation of a transboundary waters Water Charter; and (iii) validation, adoption, and popularization of the Water Charter. The estimated duration of the project is 21 months for an overall cost estimated at 1,000,000 Euros.
