Description | THERE IS NO FULL ANNOUNCEMENT ASSOCIATED WITH THIS NOTICE. This is a Notice of Intent to award a Cooperative Agreement between the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) and Towson University for the purpose of conducting chemical analyses related to Yellow Perch. The tasks to be performed under this agreement are as follows: Support the Off-Refuge U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Investigation, Effects of salinity derived from road salt and suspended sediments on yellow perch (Perca flavescens) egg and larval survival in the Severn River, Mattawoman Creek, and Choptank Rivers, Maryland by monitoring water quality and conducting chemical analyses. Conductivity loggers will be deployed at each site along with water monitoring samplers. Beginning in early February (before the beginning of the spawning run) and continuing through the spawning season of Year 1, extensive water quality monitoring will be done at one site associated with historic spawning and egg chain locations on each of the three rivers. Toxicity test samples will confirm concentrations of total suspended solids (TSS), metals, and ions. This Single Source Award is being made in accordance with Department of the Interior Policy 505 DM 2.14 B(4), which allows for award without competition to an applicant who is uniquely qualified to perform the activity based on, technical expertise. Substantial involvement on the part of the USFWS is anticipated for the successful completion of the objectives to be funded. In particular, the USFWS will collect samples, as well as assist with deploying conductivity loggers and samplers. In accordance with 505 DM 2.9 B the Service will be substantially involved. |
