Chemical Sciences Modernization

Funding is provided for the predesign and design phases of the Chemical Sciences Modernization project. This is anticipated to be a multi-phase interdisciplinary project, co-locating research faculty members from the chemistry, materials science, and chemical engineering departments. Chemistry is a core program at the university and the number one grant revenue source for the College of Arts & Sciences. A new Chemical Sciences Building will enable the college to attract and retain world-class faculty and graduate students that in return, will increase the offering of quality educational opportunities for undergraduate students. The proposed location of the Chemical Sciences Building adjacent to the Chemistry Building, Bagley Hall, MolES, and NanoES will create a chemical science cluster of excellence and interdisciplinary research. Total project cost is estimated at $240 million with $40 million coming from local sources.
