Description | The Chenab Railway Bridge is the tallest railway arch bridge in the world, standing 359 meters above the Chenab River in the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir, India. It is a key part of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project, connecting the Kashmir region with the rest of India via an all-weather rail line. The bridge spans 1,315 meters between the villages of Bakkal and Kauri, constructed using over 28,000 tons of steel, designed to last 120 years, and can withstand high wind speeds and seismic tremors. |
