Chenab Railway Bridge

The Chenab Bridge is the world's highest railway arch bridge, standing at a height of 359 meters above the riverbed. It is part of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Railway Link (USBRL) project in Jammu and Kashmir, connecting the Kashmir Valley with the rest of India via rail for the first time. The bridge is an engineering marvel built to withstand nature's toughest tests, including seismic sensitivity and high wind speeds. It features a steel construction using around 30,000 metric tons of steel and has a large foundation approximately one-third the size of a football field. The project includes 272 kilometers of railway line with nearly 36 tunnels and about 1,000 bridges, overcoming significant geographic and weather challenges.
