Description

Description

Project will enable work that is required to remove significant hydraulic restrictions during flood events. The existing Cherry Street Bridge causes hydraulic restrictions and lake filling is required to facilitate the construction of a new bridge that provides clear span conditions that accommodate anticipated flood levels. An additional component of work will result in the diversion of an existing storm sewer which currently discharges storm water into Essroc Quay. Ultimately the storm water will be collected and treated prior to discharge into the lake. In addition, a pilot study will be conducted to determine how excavated and dredged materials may be treated through innovative technologies to allow for their potential reuse including as lake fill. The pilot may also identify uses for dredged materials which will result in sediment treated as an asset rather than as a liability.
