Economic/Social Impact of the Project The Project is of new BG line between Somnath-Kodinar and an extension for connecting Chhara Port. M/s Shapoorji Pallonji Group [SPG] is developing a port at Chhara under the BOOT principles of GoG. The comapny has proposed a new BG rail line connecting to the upcoming port. wherein, BG rail connectivity is already established up to Somnath at present. From Somnath onwards, this project line is 36.91 kms [Somnath to Kodinar] and 19.8 Kms [Kodinar to Chhara Port]. This project is of extending new BG line between Somnath-Kodinar to connect to Chhara Port. The port developer [Shapporji Pallonji Group [SPG]] has taken up the other part of the project i.e. to connect New Kodinar Station to Chharat Port [Last Mile Connectivity to the new Green field port at Chhara]. At present, SPG has tied up with Indian Ports Rail Corporation Limited [IPRCL] to take up this project under Non-Government Railway [NGR] model. Land acquisition is yet under consideration of Government at present.
