The Chicago Smart Lighting Project will replace nearly all of the city’s outdated and inefficient High Pressure Sodium (HPS) lamps  through the PPP model. It will utilize LED lights, which typically last three times longer than the current HPS lights, reducing the number of outages the system experiences.The project scope will likely be completed in phases, and include the selection, procurement and financing of the design and installation of, among others:energy efficient lighting upgradesenergy efficient lighting fixturessystem infrastructure replacementsother technologies and services that either use streetlights as a platform or enhance their utility
