The main aim of the project is to create and develop effective and innovative child participatory practices at municipal level in the 8th district of Budapest that allow children to express their opinion on all relevant issues and become active participants in democratic processes. The specific objectives are to - create new and develop existing child participatory and democratic mechanisms at municipal level, strengthen the involvement of youth and children in local issues, support active participation and self-organisation among youth and children - develop local capacities necessary for the better design and implementation of child participatory practices through transnational knowledge exchange and disseminate project results for other stakeholders - capacity development and sensitization for professionals working with child participation practices, as well as for parents and for children in the field of children’s rights - strengthen the sustainability of the results and multiply then by developing and piloting two higher education curricula. The implementation will strongly focus of the approach of mainstreaming and strengthening the awareness of children's rights and empowering both children and various adult professionals of the district to facilitate communication, cooperation, active participation of all stakeholders. The innovative character of the project lies in its strong focus on inclusive participation of Roma and disadvantaged children in vulnerable situations. The other special focus is on the development of mechanisms for the inclusive participation of young children (age 4-6). Local civil organisations as well as a transnational umbrella organisation will channel in best European practices, while the strong commitment of the municipality as well as the partnering university will ensure sustainable results and changes at institutional level.
