Description

Description

Child sexual abuse (CSA) is harmful to a child in both the short and long term. CSA is also associated with a risk of recurrence. With the scale of the global problem, it is recognised that preventing CSA demands cooperation among state actors, civil society, and others. One important aspect of the prevention efforts is facilitating exchange of information to avoid unnecessary duplication and ensure that materials are shared, adapted and translated to the national context in other countries. Another recognised aspect of CSA prevention is ensuring professionals working with children have the skills and knowledge to educate and guide children and education provided directly to children. The Project's objectives are: 1. Ensure children have the skills and knowledge to express their own sexuality in an age appropriate and safe manner and to protect themselves from CSA, 2. To lower the threshold for a young person to speak openly with a professional if they are worried about their sexual interest in children, opening the possibility to seek help. 3. To promote early intervention and help seeking among young people with a sexual interest in children. The goal is to make it possible for the young person to live a good life without harming themselves or other children. The Project is divided into four Work Packages (WPs) and all consortium members will contribute to all WPs. This will ensure the most efficient impact and use of resources. The consortium has 5 reputable members: Save the Children Finland as Coordinator and Barnaheill –Save the Children Iceland, Save the Children in Albania, Save the Children international (SC North West Balkans), and KMOP – Social Action and Innovation Centre in Greece as Beneficiaries. Connections of the consortium with state actors, national networks, and with large international networks will allow the Project to benefit from accumulated knowledge and spread the lessons learned widely both nationally and internationally.
