Description
Description | Each year, 35.000 children and adolescents are newly diagnosed with cancer in Europe. None of them should be left alone. Childhood Cancer International - Europe (CCI-E) is the largest childhood cancer parents, patients and survivors umbrella organisation in Europe. All are united by the same goal: to empower parents, patients and survivors across Europe and to advocate for their rights to improve medical and psychosocial care for children and adolescents with cancer, implement European Standards of Care, eliminate inequalities and improve the quality of survivorship. CCI-E works in close collaboration with healthcare and psychosocial professionals, academia, scientists, the civil society and other non-governmental organisations across Europe to raise awareness and advocate for the EU childhood cancer agenda. CCI-E's contributions to the EU consultations targeted at citizen and societal level helped ensure that the key messages on the needs of children, adolescents and young adults with cancer are well received at the EU level. CCI-E's work is based on the volunteering Committee Members and patient advocates who are operating in 4 strategic pillars: Research & Innovation; Diagnosis, Treatment & Care; Psychosocial Care; Survivorship, complemented by the 5 overarching pillars Capacity Development, European Affairs, Communication, Ethics and Long-term sustainability. Thanks to Operating Grant 2022 and 2023, CCI-E has been able to grow the team (6 full time employees). Receiving funding other than project-restricted funds and in-kind contributions would enable CCI-E to continue to empower patient advocates to convey the urgent needs and speak for their community to effectively contribute to policy initiatives and efficiently engage in multi stakeholder environments. |
