Description
Description | The Children and Youth Fund - Protection of Children and Education of Young People (KJF) project aims to improve the protection of vulnerable girls and boys and the education and economic autonomy of young people. The target group is the young population in inappropriate and unhealthy working situations as well as families of internally displaced persons in the East, Central East and South-West regions. The project sponsor is the Children and Youth Fund (Fonds Enfants et Jeunes / FEJ), a project implementation unit within the pan-African Ecobank. The project is embedded in the development cooperation program Human Rights / Protection of Children and Promotion of Their Rights in Burkina Faso. As part of the project, social centers are to be set up in various communities and run by the social workers who are responsible for the registration and care of vulnerable girls and boys as well as internally displaced persons. These children and young people are to be temporarily housed in reception centers and, if necessary, cared for in transition centers for a longer period of time. For a more far-reaching perspective, additional scholarships for secondary schools and vocational training for the target group will be financed. The mothers of scholarship recipients and of internally displaced families can receive a financial grant to support their income-generating activities. The decentralized project thus supports gender equality and contributes to poverty reduction. The total costs amount to around EUR 9.5 million. Of this, EUR 9.0 million is an FC grant, EUR 0.35 million is a contribution from the municipalities and scholarship recipients, and around EUR 0.15 million is a national contribution. |
