The project involves the design, construction, and operation of Chile’s National Tsunami Early Warning System, a comprehensive network aimed at enhancing coastal safety. It includes the installation of 1,029 sirens—over 1,000 new and the rest upgraded—equipped with solar panels, batteries, and remote activation capabilities via central control and satellite communication. The system will feature regional and national control centers to manage alerts efficiently, ensuring rapid dissemination of warnings to coastal communities. The project is being pursued as a 20-year public-private concession with an estimated investment of around USD$113 million, and it aims to strengthen Chile’s disaster preparedness by providing timely and reliable tsunami alerts that can save lives and guide emergency responses.
