Sanjen Jalavidhyut Company Limited (SJCL), subsidiary of Chilime Hydropower Company Limited (CHCL) was planning the development of the 42.5MW Sanjen Hydroelectric Project (SHEP) and the 14.5MW Sanjen-Upper Hydroelectric Project (SUHEP). Chilime was 51% owned by Nepal Electricity Authority. The project equity structure was as follows: Chilime Hydropower Company: 38% Nepal Electricity Authority: 10% Employees: 4.5% Contributors of Employee Fund: 19.5% Project affected people: 10% General Public: 15% The SUHEP project consisted of 3 Francis turbines of 5.1MW, and a 5km 132kv transmission line. The SHEP projet consisted of Pelton Vertical Axis turbines (3x) of 14.75MW each, and 1.2km of 132kV transmission. The project signed a PPA in October 2011 (SUHEP) and December 2011 (SHEP). Commercial operation was expected for December 2015. Generation license was valid for 35 years, from November 2012. The EIA was approved by Ministry of Environment. Civil construction contract was under bid, as well as hydroelectric works. Debt was to be provided by the EPF, for wich a tri-partite loan agreement was signed in 8 December 2011.
