Description | The Chimney Hollow Reservoir Project just west of Loveland, Colorado, has started to fill with water after four years of construction. Once full, the reservoir will supply water to 12 different municipalities in northern Colorado, ranging from Broomfield to Greeley. The reservoir has a total capacity of 90,000 acre-feet and is the tallest new dam paired with a reservoir built in the past 25 years in the United States. The initial fill is a small test fill to monitor water quality, especially uranium levels found in rocks used in the reservoir's construction. |
