The objectives of Bengbu Integrated Environment Improvement Project for china is to improve the effectiveness and sustainability of selected urban environmental services delivered in Bengbu Municipality through improving water supply, reducing incidents of land submergence from flooding, and enhancing wastewater management. The project covers Bengbu City proper, including Huaishang District, and the satellite counties of Guzhen, Huaiyuan, and Wuhe, all of which are located along the Huai River, except Guzhen which is on a tributary of the Huai River.There are four components to the project. The first project component consists of Comprehensive Water Resources Management. The second component consists of Urban Environmental Infrastructure Improvement. The third component consists of Sub-urban Environmental Infrastructure Improvement. Finally the fourth component consists of Institutional Development and Capacity Building.
