China Brahmaputra Mega Dam Project

China has officially begun construction on a mega dam project in the lower reaches of the Yarlung Tsangpo, the upper reaches of the Brahmaputra River in Tibet. This is one of China's most expensive projects and is expected to be the world's largest dam, primarily delivering electricity for external consumption and local demand in Xizang. The project has raised concerns in downstream countries including India and Bangladesh.
