China Container Transport Project

The Container Transport Project aims at facilitating inland penetration of seaborne containers from gateway ports to inland cities, thus contributing to reducing economic disparities between coastal and inland areas. There are two main components in this project. First, Inland Container Depot (ICD) development aims at developing container handling capability at selected inland cities located along two pilot corridors. The Bank will finance qualified ICDs for their construction and the procurement of equipment. Second, upgrading Tianjin Port container handling capacity will extend financial assistance to the upgrading of container handling equipment at Tianjin Harbor Container Company, and providing technical assistance to establish a better operational and institutional environment for container operations.
