Description

China Resources Power (CRP) operated coal-fired power plants in China's Guangdong, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Hebei and Henan provinces. It is a sister company of blue-chip conglomerate China Resources Enterprise Ltd. Both are units of state-owned China Resources (Holdings) Co. On November 12th 2003, CRP raised HK$2.95 billion (US$333 million) by floating 1.06 billion new shares through an initial public offering (IPO) in Hong Kong, the first by a Chinese power company abroad in four years. CRP increased power generation capacity by 516 megawatts to 1,545 megawatts in 2003, after two units of the Liyujiang Power Plant began operating in July and September respectively and demand for power increased significantly during that year.
