Description | A new highway between Beijing and Northwest China’s Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region is now officially open to traffic. The 2,768 km Jingxin Expressway G7 links six provinces and regions – Beijing, Hebei, Shanxi, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Gansu, and Xinjiang, and shortens the existing route by some 1,300 km. The highway crosses the Badain Jaran Desert, the third largest desert in China, and will become the most convenient way for transhipments to the port of Tianjin. It is important for the economic future of west China and is an integral transportation segment for the Silk Road Economic Belt. |
