Description
Description | The China Yarlung Tsangpo Mega Dam is a large-scale hydroelectric project in Tibet, designed to harness the elevation drop of the Yarlung Tsangpo River. It is expected to become the largest hydroelectric project in the world, generating approximately 300 billion kilowatt-hours annually, nearly three times the output of the Three Gorges Dam. The project is located in a geologically active Himalayan region with an active fault line beneath the proposed reservoir, raising seismic and engineering challenges. Construction has accelerated, and the project includes engineering solutions such as slope reinforcement and continuous geological monitoring to ensure safety and resilience. |
