Chinguacousy Wellness Centre Renovations

The project consists of renovations to the current recreation centre, the Chinguacousy Wellness Centre in the City of Brampton, Ontario to make it more accessible and to improve the drainage system. The project scope includes interior and exterior renovations to the recreation centre. The fitness centre change rooms are out of date and require rehabilitation as the washrooms no longer meet accessibility guidelines or meet code for the number of fixtures required for the occupant loads experienced by the facility’s current user groups. The task is to demolish and reconfigure the existing change rooms to reflect a fresh, modern fitness facility. In addition to the aforementioned accessibility upgrades, the updated change rooms will include a new sauna, and washroom and shower facility to be incorporated in the design with the new locker amenities for both men and women. There will also be improvements made to floor drainage in all areas, retiling of the hot tub area, and upgraded security between program spaces (between the aquatics and fitness centre areas). On the exterior of the centre, the project will include repairs to the concrete that is presently uneven, repairs to catch basins, upgraded parking lot lighting to more energy efficient fixtures, and resolving drainage problems along the north wall of the facility. The completion of the rehabilitation of Chinguacousy Wellness Centre will ensure all accessibility standards are met, while updating amenities that visitors use regularly, such as the change rooms, shower area, lockers, and hot tub. The upgrades will also include improvements made to floor drainage, which will increase the longevity of the centre, and the exterior renovations will improve the walkway through the repairs done to the uneven concrete, as well as improve the parking lot by upgrading lighting and resolve drainage problems.
