Chisos Mountains Lodge Reconstruction Project

cancelled

The National Park Service planned to demolish and rebuild the Chisos Mountains Lodge in Big Bend National Park's Chisos Basin. The project included demolition and reconstruction of the visitor hub and was approved in 2019. However, due to design complexities, delays, and increased construction costs resulting in a substantial budget shortfall, the project has been canceled. The park is exploring alternative strategies to advance construction efforts and remains engaged in assessing viable solutions to complete the lodge reconstruction and other facility improvements.
