The Chuxiong Medical and Pharmaceutical College (CXMPC) in Yunnan Province is planning an expansion of the existing campus, which includes the construction of two new laboratory buildings and the expansion of medical teaching equipment. The Chuxiong Medical College is a higher vocational school with medical training courses in the areas of nursing, pharmacy, general medicine and traditional Chinese medicine. Due to continuously increasing student numbers in recent years, the college is reaching its capacity limits. The inadequate equipment in the practical training rooms and laboratories has a negative impact on the quality of the training. By improving the training equipment and training methodology, the vocational school is strengthening the quality of its vocational training offerings and thus increasing the qualification level and employment opportunities of its graduates on the one hand, but also supporting the growth of the local economy by providing highly qualified specialists who are currently lacking in most hospitals and medical facilities. As part of the project, the vocational school's existing cooperation with local and regional companies will be further strengthened. With courses tailored to the requirements of the local healthcare industry, future workers will be trained in line with their needs, which will lead to an increase in the quality of training. Due to the growing need for qualified staff, the students at Chuxiong College have a very good chance of finding a suitable job on the local labor market. The total cost of the project is EUR 34.6 million. The construction of a laboratory and the procurement of medical equipment for the practical training of the students will be financed from the FC grant of EUR 20.0 million.
