Safari Holdings (“Safari” or the “Group”) is one of the largest Destination Management Companies (“DMCs”) in the East African region. The Group comprises three integrated yet independently operated subsidiaries: ARP Africa Travel (“ARP”), Pollman’s Tours & Safaris (Pollman’s), and Ranger Safari. ARP Africa Travel, headquartered in the United Kingdom, specializes in business-to-business (B2B) tour package sales to Kenya for Pollman’s and to Tanzania for Ranger Safari. Pollman’s and Ranger Safari manage destination travel services within Kenya and Tanzania, respectively. Both companies offer comprehensive in-country services, including ticketing, hotel reservations, guided tours and safaris, and related transportation services. Safari tours focus on national parks and game reserves in Kenya and Tanzania with additional activities and excursions such beach hotel stays, mountain climbing, city tours, balloon rides and cultural visits to local villages and heritage sites. Pollman’s and Ranger Safaris partner with hotels, airlines and private conservancies to deliver on the packages sold by ARP.Safari Group will operate from existing office and workshop premises currently leased by ARP in the United Kingdom (UK), Pollman’s in Mombasa, Nairobi and Diani, and Ranger Safari in Arusha and Kilimanjaro. The group has a combined fleet of about 280 vehicles that include customized safari vehicles, coaches/ minibuses and saloons for staff and tourist transfers and tours.IFC is considering a US$10 million equity co-investment opportunity in Safari in partnership with the Alterra Africa Accelerator Fund (“the Fund”). IFC has an additional investment in the Group through the Fund, under the Alterra II Project (https://disclosures.ifc.org/project-detail/SII/45032/alterra-africa-accelerator-fund).
