Description

In June 2006, MTD Capital Bhd. won its bid for the Cikarang-Tanjung Priok Road, in Berkasi and Jakarta Provinces, Indonesia under a build-operate-transfer contract. MTD Capital expected construction to take two years out of the 35-year concession, and estimated the project cost at RM1.13 billion (US$308 million). MTD Capital Bhd. was a Malaysian –based and –listed firm and held 90-percent of the project. PT Nusacipta Etika Pratama, an Indonesian firm, held the remaining 10-percent. The project design called for a 34-km two-lane expressway in each direction. MTD Capital had raised funding for past projects through its market capitalization and through loans from Malaysian banks. As of June 2007, the project was under construction and was expected to take two years to complete. The first section of the road, a 3.4km section from Rorotan to Cilincing was inaugurated in January 2011.
