Description | The CinEast festival is an annual event dedicated to the cinema of Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries. Its primary goal is to promote the CEE cinema and culture in Luxembourg and beyond. The festival has reached an important position in the country’s cultural scene (2nd largest film event in the country) and is also among the 4 biggest festivals dedicated to CEE cinema worldwide. Currently our development requires additional resources in order to shift one step up and be able to increase in a substantial proportion the circulation of European films, but also European values. During the two editions covered by the project, our main priorities are: • Increase the number of the films and broaden festival’s audience Increase the number of films, screenings, guests and events, while ensuring the highest possible quality of the programming. Reaching new potential audiences, mainly by: a) developing activities for young audiences, b) attracting larger cross-border public and c) developing our online platform. • Promoting the distribution of films all around the year Luxembourg is a small market for film distribution, but we believe there is a potential to release in cinemas a larger number of CEE films. This is why we would like to strengthen in the coming years our year-long screenings & activities. • Developing the industry part & the network of festivals Luxembourg is a country that is engaging in a very large number of co-productions, it is already now becoming a hub for co-producing CEE films. We would like to contribute to that process by developing our “CinEast Pro” co-production forum and promote CEE cinema also through our EEFFFN network of festivals. • Further professionalise the event’s organisation Stabilising and further structuring the festival organisation team are key priorities during the next two years and a condition of achieving successfully other goals. • Serving as a platform for social diversity and multicultural dialogue |
