Circular maintenance

Various public and private partners will collaborate in this project, led by the (Dutch) Maintenance Process Industry Knowledge and Innovation Center (KicMPi) and the Belgian Maintenance Association (BEMAS), to reduce the material footprint of the process industry in the southern Netherlands and Flanders while also achieving economic benefits. Through practical research and demonstrations, innovative solutions will be sought for practical issues such as the prevention of repairs and the sustainable reuse of equipment. For example, re-use of electric motors and transformers during the renewal of installations, the sharing of little-used maintenance tools, new cleaning techniques that will drastically reduce waste water and the use of chemical cleaning products will be considered, and so on. Furthermore, new circular revenue models will be developed for the maintenance industry of the process industry. The central question is always whether a solution is also economically viable and practically feasible for companies.
