Description
Description | CIRENA is a 24-months civic initiative that empowers European citizens from migration-affected, inland, and receiving regions to engage in structured dialogue, express their visions for Europe's future, and actively co-create policy recommendations for a more inclusive and cohesive Union. CIRENA strengthens democratic engagement and reinforces the sense of belonging to the Union. CIRENA contributes to shaping future Union policy by ensuring that citizens’ voices from Europe's frontline and heartland regions are heard, valued, and transformed into actionable visions for the next generation of European integration. CIRENA is structured around a clear civic mission to empower citizens to become active co-authors of Europe's future through solidarity, democratic participation, and shared European values. CIRENA's Consultation Phase (WP2–WP4) gathers grassroots perspectives from migration-affected and inland communities, ensuring that diverse citizen experiences shape the dialogue. The Awareness and Capacity Building Phase (WP5–WP9) strengthens citizens’ knowledge of EU policies, fosters storytelling across regions, and trains participants in advocacy and policy proposal writing. Finally, the Policy Drafting and Dissemination Phase (WP10–WP12) culminates in the co-creation, endorsement, and presentation of the Citizens’ Solidarity Pact, a citizen-authored vision for a more inclusive, democratic Union. CIRENA target groups are citizens from migration-affected regions, local and regional policymakers, civil society representatives, migrant and refugee associations, youth organizations, volunteers, minority group representatives, and media. CIRENA is expected to reach 1085 gender balanced participants, including those with fewer opportunities, ensuring 50% of participants will be women & underrepresented gender identities, in accordance to the EIGE's necessity to prioritize the gender perspective in the preparation, implementation & evaluation phase of the project. |
