Description

Description

This Jean Monnet network project is based on collaboration between the University of Nantes, the Ecole Supérieure de Journalisme in Tours and 5 European vocational high schools, all of which are already involved at various levels in European projects. The aim of the project is to develop and implement sustainable and effective tools for teachers and their students to improve their ability to respond to European issues in terms of awareness of active European citizenship. To achieve this, the Facil'Europe team at the University of Nantes will train teachers in graphic facilitation as a means of teaching about Europe. At the same time, a group of teachers, under the guidance of a teacher/trainer, will reflect on setting up a repository of formal and non-formal skills defining the notion of European citizenship. They will then work together in international cross-disciplinary working groups to design teaching pathways: - A first learning path will aim to create a citizens' initiative, in the form of a major competition in which students, grouped into international teams, will have to confront the legal and institutional workings of the EU in order to come up with a proposal for a citizens' initiative in graphic form. -A second pedagogical path will aim to create an interactive European media capable of making pupils actors of their own knowledge, thinking for themselves, having a critical look at the world around them as much as at the different sources of information they are confronted with. The Tours School of Journalism will support schools, teachers and students in the design and production of this creative process. These two courses will be tested in the various participating schools, giving rise to co-teaching modules.
